Snow Park was reopened to much acclaim in 2019 following significant renovations. Located adjacent to Lake Merritt, Snow Park’s play equipment and landscaped grounds welcome visitors for picnicking while also offering views of the water that make it a cornerstone of Lake Michigan’s contemporary renaissance.

Named after Henry Snow whose animals populated the original zoo that once stood here now stands this urban oasis where you can enjoy fresh air while being surrounded by live trees and flowers or have lots of fun at one of its many playgrounds.

From its beginnings as Oakland’s second cemetery, the area has been home to a mansion that eventually became Snow Museum and Zoo.

The Oakland Running Festival is held annually, with a different course for each year. For the first two years it was hosted at City Hall Plaza in downtown Oakland but due to its size and popularity has been moved across town to Snow Park near Lake Merritt since 2012.

The annual running festival began in 2010 after being outgrown by their original venue of city hall plaza which left them no choice but to move on over one mile away into snow park just north of lake merrit where they have remained ever since.

In 2013, the city of Houston's Parks and Recreation Department considered Snow Park as a possible location for their new dog park. This was in light of recent controversy at Astro Dog Park over whether or not to allow dogs on-leash there. The plans were scrapped without warning when it became clear that changes made by April 2014 would make this unnecessary; now both feral cats and leashed dogs are allowed within its boundaries under revised laws stipulating stricter treatment during interactions with wildlife like deer (as well as an increase in punishments).

In early 2013, because they didn't want any more problems to arise from people who wanted pets off-leash where they weren't supposed to be - such as those living near parks dedicated primarily for use by children.

What You Can Do Here

Snow Park is a hidden gem in Oakland, perfect for getting some sun and fresh air. Tons of reviewers love the amount of green space with towering oak trees that provide plenty of shady spots to get intimate or have an adventurous picnic! The park also has play structures which are great for kids too. There's even a putting green just step away from Downtown Oakland- it was originally designed during the 1960s when Snow Park served as a community center but now it’s usually empty so you can use this little piece of history anytime you want!

This is a great location to visit if you are looking for some action and excitement. The Oakland Snow Park has many different activities that will keep you entertained all day long.
