Roberts Regional Recreation Area provides so many things for people of all ages!

This 87-acre area is a popular place for family and group picnicking. It's known for its lush setting in the grove of fragrant second-growth redwood trees off Skyline Boulevard in Oakland. The original tree stand was logged between 1840 and 1860 to support the needs of growing Bay Area communities at that time, which explains why it still feels like you're deep within nature even though you're surrounded by bustling city life!

History

The park was named in honor of Thomas J. "Tommy" Roberts, who served as secretary for 24 years and continued on the board until his death at age 95. It's open year-round with trails that are great for hiking or biking; this area provides an escape from modernity without sacrificing accessibility!

Features

Roberts Park has a variety of recreational activities available, including sand volleyball courts and baseball fields. Roberts Regional Recreation Area is home to the "Barrier Free" wheelchair accessible children's play area as well!

The Roberts entrance and parking area are in a grove of redwoods, which has proved to be the perfect stopping point for tourists. This is because it's right by all those nice trees! The best part about this stop is that if you're not able to hike or forgot your favorite pair of hiking shoes, don't worry--you can still enjoy these fantastic features without any hassle at all.

The famous "landmark trees" were believed to have been located in or near Roberts Park; their location is marked by state historic plaque #962, which commemorates the site and offers a chance for visitors to pay tribute. These two giant redwoods used by sailors as navigational aids are situated about 300 feet from Blossom Rock- submerged in bay water between Alcatraz Island and San Francisco.
