3300 Joaquin Miller Rd, Oakland, CA 94602, United States

Oakland's Joaquin Miller Park is a hidden gem in the hills that offer spectacular views of the Bay Area. The park has over 1,000 acres of open space and features several trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. On any given day you can find people running, playing soccer on one of the six fields, or picnicking with their families. There are also two ponds stocked with trout where anyone can fish as long as they have a California fishing license.

The redwoods in Joaquin Miller Park offer a nice break from the hustle and bustle of city life. They grow throughout this park, even though they are usually found more often deep within forests rather than urban settings. Many people come to these trees for their shade or just because it is such an unusual site amidst all the buildings that make up Oakland's skyline today. There was once a time when logging threatened these majestic creatures but luckily enough many still stand tall as one of few Redwood Forests accessible by those living here now-a-days

While the park has a variety of habitats, it can be most easily classified as having four main types: hot open hillsides with oak woodlands; cool redwood groves; lush creekside and wet meadows areas. The Oakland star tulip is one native plant that grows in this area but there are also many non-native plants like fennel, acacia or eucalyptus which have been introduced by humans over time. California's state grass - purple needlegrass - is found all around the land while its official flower - golden poppy state flowers grow abundantly on serpentinite hills where they thrive among other rare species such as pallid manzanita and leatherwood trees (both indigenous to this region).

Walk gently, and look for the wildlife hiding all around you. Towhees fly across marshes in search of food; scrub jays hide away among the trees looking out for predators with their keen eyesight; Cooper's hawks soar high above us while we walk below them on our hands-and-knees searching through dried leaves that rustle beneath your feet as if they were whispering secrets to each other about which animals might be hidden nearby--wild turkeys? California quail? Gray fox or deer...or maybe even a skunk!

What to expect:

• Explore a lush redwood-filled gorge on the Palos Colorados Trail

• The recommended hike combines the two most scenic parts of the park: a lush redwood-filled gorge and a forested ridge with breathtaking views

• Walk through one of the region’s last large areas of unspoiled nature

• Get in touch with your natural side without leaving town
