Every day, people go about their daily lives without thinking too much about what could happen to them. While some may think it is best not to worry and live in the moment, it is important for us all to be aware of our surroundings at all times.  The good news is that there are many ways you can stay safe while enjoying your time outdoors in Vacaville! Many people flock to Vacaville to experience its beautiful parks. With everyone coming from all over the Bay Area for a day of fun in the sun, it's important to know some tips on how to stay safe while enjoying the community parks.

How Does the Vacaville Community urge members of its residents and visitors to practice safe social distancing?

Vacaville is a small town where the residents and visitors alike may enjoy its parks, trails, and open space. Community members advise that people adhere to minimum safety health protocols by:

  • Keep at least 6 feet away when socializing with others

  • Wash their hands properly to avoid getting sick themselves or spreading germs on other surfaces

  • Wear masks in public places so they don't spread germs to those around them who are healthy

  • Stay home if they're feeling ill because it's not fair for everyone else who doesn't have flu symptoms but still has to deal with an illness-ridden person going outside.

What precautions will be taken to proactively prevent the spread of COVID-19 when utilizing the Vacaville playgrounds?

In a perfect world, children would always be clean. However, in reality, kids often come into contact with dirt and germs on their hands that can make them sick or give other people around them the flu. It is important for adults and children using the playground to wash their hands before eating, especially after using the play equipment, drinking anything from a bottle/cup/sippy cup, touching eyes, nose, or mouth, and any time they get dirty playing outside.

There are two groups of people who use park spaces: camp participants and general public visitors, so it's important that both sets of individuals feel safe in their surroundings when using them.

Campers and tourists come into contact with many surfaces in the park's camping areas, so it is important for the staff to devise an efficient strategy on how they should clean all of these different places. The park will have to decide if there are areas that need more frequent sanitizing than others. They may also want to create special cleaning schedules depending upon what day or time campsites were last used.

  • Toys

  • Drinking fountains

  • Park restrooms, including faucets, toilets, and urinals, must be cleaned and disinfected every two hours, if not more frequently, depending on usage.

  • After each usage, hand washing sinks and faucets must be cleaned and disinfected.
